CEVA recognized for environmental excellence

Ashby-de-la-Zouch, UK, 16 October, 2014 – CEVA Logistics, one of the world’s leading global supply chain management companies, is delighted to announce that it has won the Environmental Improvement Award at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport’s (CILT) Annual Awards for
Excellence.

The prestigious Awards were held at one of London’s premier venues - the Lancaster London Hotel, where over 500 of the UK’s leading professionals in transport, the supply chain and transport planning were in attendance. The Awards are designed to promote and encourage best practice within the logistics and transport sectors and are supported by organizations and individuals from throughout the industry.

The organizers stated: “…CEVA included a holistic approach to all aspects of distribution management including waste, carbon emissions, enervation of renewable energy, waste minimization, and induced travel and trip demand. CEVA went beyond mere compliance in a number of areas, including self-generated power, and the creation of an in-house facility to treat Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment known as WEEE. CEVA also has an outstanding approach to monitoring and evaluation, including the control of energy use both on and off site. The company’s approach lends itself to wider applicability for Companies in the distribution and warehousing sectors.”

We continually strive to improve sustainable business practices and are now working to achieve zero waste to landfill. In the UK, CEVA has embraced a number of initiatives to improve its sustainability, efficiency and environmental credentials which led to a saving of 6,000 tons of carbon dioxide in 2013. In order to make these savings, CEVA introduced longer semi-trailers, double deck trailers and improved vehicle aerodynamics. Through the use of telematics, CEVA monitors driver performance for every journey against seven fuel indicators in addition to providing safe and fuel efficient driving training for its drivers.
