With the purchase of 6,000 new swap bodies DB Schenker is investing in the expansion of its quality in the European System Freight. The currently used swap bodies will be partly replaced by new ones so that in future only consistent double-stack loading will be carried out. As a result the loading safety will be increased, the on and offloading at the terminal becomes easier. Simultaneously, about 1,000 swap bodies with curtains, which have so far been used for system and direct freight, will be replaced. Thus, DB Schenker is expanding its own European swap body pool to further countries. It is the long-term objective to work with this technique in system freight in 36 countries in Europe..

The new swap bodies, which will be supplied by the company Krone, have an even surface and rounded-off edges. This type of design contributes to the reduction of fuel consumption and consequently, decreases the CO2-emissions. Hence, about one litre of Diesel can be saved on 100 kilometres.
