New contract win for TNT helps Cumberland Building Society members save money
In a new contract win for TNT, Cumberland Building Society is saving money for its customers and members while safeguarding their confidential financial information by outsourcing its inter-site mail services to TNT.

The mutual building society, which is owned by its members – savers and borrowers, sends internal mail around its 36 sites and centrally-located clearing houses.

With a desire to save money for its members and introduce greater efficiencies into its processes, Cumberland Building Society, benefits from the expertise and network capabilities of the Logistics Solutions department within TNT Special Services, part of TNT.

TNT Special Services introduced an integrated solution for collecting and delivering mail and office stationery, enabling Cumberland Building Society to switch from multiple suppliers to a single supplier, providing significant cost savings, efficiencies and peace of mind.

John Kidd, Finance Director and Secretary at Cumberland Building Society, said: “Outsourcing our inter-site mail collections and deliveries to TNT Special Servicesenables us to focus on our core business – serving our customers and members.

“It has saved costs and improved our efficiency because Cumberland Building Society benefits from a bespoke service coupled to TNT Special Services’ existing financial services networks which means we are completely confident our internal mail is delivered on time and safely.”

From a compliance point of view, TNT Special Services’ dedicated vans and secure network offers reassurance to the building society and its customers that their financial information is in safe hands.

TNT Special Servicesensures there is no disruption to the building society’s daily business because pick-ups and deliveries are made after working hours with secure key access by its drivers. Because TNT Special Services uses dedicated vehicles for collections and deliveries there are also fewer vans on the routes which has also enabled Cumberland Building Society to reduce its own carbon footprint.

TNT Special Services has been delivering logistics solutions to financial institutions for more than 18 years. Its experienced people have built up an enviable knowledge base of banking systems which helped provide a relatively seamless implementation of the new internal mail system at Cumberland Building Society.

At a time when all organisations are consolidating their spend, TNT Special Services helps to add financial value by charging a final cost solution, enabling Cumberland Building Society to budget for the year.

“The speed with which TNT implemented the changes was an added benefit to us,” added Mr Kidd. “The enthusiasm with which their people approached finding solutions to our needs was impressive.”
