TNT wins key environment award
TNT – The People Network showed that orange is the new green when it won the Environment Award at the prestigious Global Freight Awards.

The leading business to business express delivery company triumphed in the face of stiff competition from companies such as Maersk, Uniserve and Emirates to win the accolade for demonstrating leadership in efforts to reduce energy consumption, emissions, noise pollution and environmental impact.

The company was acknowledged for reducing CO2 emissions within its fleet of more than 2,800 vehicles and in its buildings as well as increasing the amount of waste it recycles across the business.

Neil Griffiths, Director of Health Safety and Environmental for TNT UK, said: “We measure and monitor carbon reduction results against targets and our performance is reviewed every three months.

“Our two-year Carbon Reduction Plan has so far reduced vehicle emissions by 2.3%, reduced building energy emissions by 9.9% and increased the amount of waste we recycle from 51% to 81%. These measures have reduced our absolute carbon footprint by 4.9% from 89.5 kilotonnes to 85.1kilotonnes.

“Reducing our impact on the environment is incredibly important to our business and our customers. We will continue to look at ways to lead the transport industry in efforts to drive down carbon emissions and increase the amount of waste we recycle.”
