Outlook appears positive for UK logistics and freight firms

The outlook for the coming year for logistics service providers and freight forwarders appears positive, new research shows.

According to the study from Kewill and Transport Intelligence, businesses in the transport sector are forecasting expansion and economic growth during 2013.

Of those companies questioned, 80 per cent had witnessed some growth in the last two years and three-quarters (75 per cent) expected further improvements next year.

The report also revealed that of the almost 500 international organisations polled, the logistics industry is bouncing back from the global downturn and is finding that IT is playing an increasing role in the survival of companies.

"Investing in technology is no longer an option, it is imperative in doing business efficiently and thriving in today’s tough market place," stated Kewill

Skills for Logistics recently launched a new initiative that is intended to attract higher numbers of former military personnel to the profession and assist in the transition from armed forces to civilian life in order to fill talent gaps.
