LATEST NEWS

For the fifth year running, CILT and ITN Productions are producing a news and current affairs-style programme that will discuss ideas, challenge perceptions and provide a professional voice to demonstrate how the work within and around the supply chain directly impacts people, society, the environment, business profitability and economic growth.

‘Driving the Future’ will show examples of best practice as well as the exciting and dynamic innovations taking place across the UK and beyond. Behind every great business model and idea, is a supply chain and logistical infrastructure making sure everything runs to time and provides the highest quality output or service.

Drawing upon ITN’s 60 year heritage and expertise in storytelling, we will look at the extraordinary breadth of the logistics and transport sector to demonstrate that ‘it’s not all about trucks’. We’ll look to understand the processes and challenges involved in the movement of goods and their associated supply chain.

‘Driving the Future,’ will also provide a perspective on what the supply chain means for ‘UK plc’ and what CILT and its members do to support society and the economy.

The news-style piece will combine key interviews and news-style reports with sponsored editorial profiles of some of the leading organisations who are working across the supply chain.

The aim is to heighten awareness of ‘the invisible profession’ among policy makers, politicians, the private sector and the wider public – to show examples of size and scope of operations within CILT and its support of life-long learning.

‘Driving the Future’ will be an in-depth, online programme providing a unique platform to stimulate debate. It will champion collaboration, celebrate innovation and encourage the exchange of ideas, as well as challenge public perceptions of those working within Transport, Logistics and their associated supply chains.

‘Driving the Future’ will be launched at the CILT Annual Conference, of the same name, on 8th-9th June 2017 at The Chesford Grange Hotel, near Warwick. There will also be preview screenings of the content at MultiModal 2017 on 4th – 6th April 2017. The programme will form part of a communications campaign featuring CILT members, professional partners, influential individuals within the government, as well as journalists, writers and bloggers.

Kevin Richardson FCILT, Chief Executive, CILT, said: “Raising the profile of the profession of all those involved in the movement of goods and people and  their associated supply chains is a key objective of CILT and we are pleased to be working with ITN Productions again in 2017 to reach out to a wide audience. One of our areas of focus this year is highlighting new technologies and giving consideration to the skills that will needed to support their introduction as well as attracting and developing the talent necessary for their deployment. This will be the theme for the 2017 Conference under the banner “Driving the Future ” at which this collaboration with ITN Productions will be launched.”

Simon Shelley, Head of Industry News at ITN Productions said: “We’re delighted to be partnering again with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport to create ‘Driving the Future’. We look forward to exploring the role of professionals across the supply chain and transport sectors, understanding the fundamental role that people play in familiar businesses across the globe, and the incredible feats of logistics that we might now take for granted. This programme will be a means for the sector to share knowledge and best practice and galvanise others to build a career in the profession.”
