Eddie Stobart Logistics has sold off its UK automotive logistics business to BCA Marketplace, a move that will bring strategic benefits for both companies.
The acquired business operates approximately 450 vehicle transporters and will provide its new owner with strong, long-term relationships with the majority of leading original equipment manufacturers and vehicle leasing companies.
This move will help to fuel the further growth of BCA Marketplace, which was created in 2014 to acquire and manage companies in the UK and European automotive sector.
Avril Palmer-Baunack, chair of BCA Marketplace, said the deal "will bring extensive logistics expertise, geographical coverage across the UK and the scale and capacity to significantly enhance the existing logistics services within the group".
Selling off this business will also align with Stobart Group's efforts to increase its focus on infrastructure and support services, with energy and aviation being the divisions delivering the highest rates of growth for the company at the moment.
