Parcel delivery service Hermes has introduced a new service to offer its online customers an Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) for different deliveries and for returns.

The company will have this ETA service available for next day and standard delivery customers, reports Logistics Manager.

Hermes plans to trial the service with a four-hour time window that will be for the morning of a customer's package delivery or collection. It hopes that this window will have improved to just two hours by the end of this year, potentially earlier.

The company has planned to provide this service after realising that most of their customer base were "anxious" about being out of the house when they were waiting for a delivery

CEO of Hermes Carole Woodhead commented: "It is clear that the vast majority of customers want the convenience of an ETA for all of their deliveries, and not just when opting for a premium service."
