Corporate members are the bedrock of our Institute and the annual Corporate Member Plaque Presentation Day was held last month to celebrate and welcome those companies that have Institute Corporate Membership. Anthony Kendrick reports.

More than 100 representatives from 57 companies that hold CILT Corporate Membership gathered at the Kettering Park Hotel to receive their commemorative plaque for 2015-2016.

The event welcomed members from across the profession, including those from the financial sector, leading universities and the biggest names in logistics and transport.

Hosting his first Corporate Plaque Presentation, Kevin Richardson FCILT, Chief Executive, CILT, opened the event by stressing the importance of the relationship between CILT and its corporate members. He said: ‘The corporate side of CILT is significant to us. We believe that having corporate members enables us to interact with organisations and members in a way that our individual membership doesn’t allow.

‘The diversity of what we have as an organisation is a huge strength; we have an expertise that spreads across all parts of the supply chain and transport sectors which is really valuable. Getting a group like this together and having you as members makes us a very strong organisation.’

Beverley Bell FCILT, President, CILT, was on hand to present members with their plaques and urged all corporate members to work with the institute to tackle the problems that the industry is currently facing. She said: ‘I am delighted to be here to present the corporate plaques, please display them in pride of place and be proud; be proud to be a part of CILT. It has such an awful lot to contribute to you and to the industry and we need you to contribute back.

‘Our industry still faces many challenges; the driver shortage, skills gaps and attracting a diverse workforce into the industry and the institute. It’s all very well talking about tackling the problems, but we can’t do it alone as CILT, we need to do it as an overarching industry and we need to do it with your support.’

Kevin Richardson closed the presentation day by applauding the commitment of the Corporate Members and encouraged them to work with CILT to get the most from their membership. He concluded: ‘We are delighted to have you on board and your support. We want to evolve and we want to know how we can do more to provide value to you. We want to be an Institute and a voice for companies to showcase what they have and share best practice.’

Corporate Membership is divided into Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum+ levels, and members from all grades attended.
