Network Rail launches new standards of work

29 April 2016/Categories: Industry News

Network Rail has rolled out a new set of minimum standards for all organisations that work with the company to follow.

These standards are being referred to as a code of conduct and it has been launched to ensure that the 250,000 people who are helping to deliver the Railway Upgrade Plan meet standards of safety.

Similarly, the rules will make sure that the people who work on the lines will treat customers and communities with politeness and respect.

These standards have highlighted the commitment that Network Rail has for its customers, passengers, lineside neighbours and communities that are affected by the extensive work.

By launching this contract, all of the train operator's contractors and subcontractors will now adhere to the same values and Network Rail hopes that it will boost its own reputation.

Mark Carne, chief executive of Network Rail, said: "We want to work together with those who share our determination to continuously improve this area. We want to provide clarity on what we expect from our people and the support they can expect from us. This code of conduct will help us do that."
