Amazon says Sunday deliveries have quadrupled
Amazon says that its Sunday deliveries in the UK have quadrupled compared to last year as the online shopping revolution accelerates.

The increase in Sunday deliveries is a sign of how shopping habits are changing and how Amazon is taking control of its own delivery network.

The launch of Sunday deliveries on Amazon products, which is available in most major cities in the UK, has been driven by the company's Amazon Logistics business. This arm of the company provides the facilities for local and national delivery companies to deliver products on a Sunday.

The service is free of charge for members of Amazon's Prime scheme, and highlights why Royal Mail is feeling the squeeze from rival delivery services.

Jamie Stephenson, UK director for Amazon Logistics, said: “We’re excited that so many customers are taking advantage of Sunday delivery and that so many local and regional delivery companies continue to join the Amazon Logistics platform.

"This is just the beginning – we recently opened a new delivery station in Glasgow and we hope to expand even further in the future.”
