CILT(UK) Level 3 Certificate - How is the qualification assessed?
The route taken will depend on individual needs and will be based on advice from the tutor.
Examination route - new or first-line managers, aspiring first-line supervisors, careers changers. Candidates wishing to gain the National and International Certificate of Competency (CPC) will need to take the examination route.
The qualification is assessed by one examination, each of two hours duration. Each examination is in two parts: Part A is a series of 25 questions and Part B requires essay-style answers to two out of three questions. The student must pass both parts to be awarded the qualification. The pass mark for each paper is 50%.
CPC Exemption
Candidates who successfully achieve the core Management unit, plus either the Road Passenger Transport or Road Freight Transport options, with an average grade across both papers of 60%, will automatically be awarded the National and International Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC). Candidates must pass both papers within six months. The CPC is a statutory requirement of the European Union (EU) for the grant of an Operator's License.
Note: New enrolments from September 2008 onto The Passenger Transport Co-ordinator Unit will no longer be eligible for a National CPC exemption using this route.
Competency route - experienced supervisors, first-line managers. Candidates wishing to apply for the ECBL Junior Logistician award will need to take the competency route.
The qualification is assessed for competence by the production of work-based evidence that meets the criteria of the qualification and demonstrates each candidate's ability to perform at this level.
Candidates who successfully achieve the core Management unit, plus either the Warehousing, Inventory or Production Planning unit, are eligible to apply for the European Logistics Association (ELA) European Certification Board for Logistics (ECBL) European Junior Logistician and to use the post-nominals EJLog after their name.
