Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor

The Department for Transport (DFT) is responsible for the implementation in the UK of the EU Directive 96/35/EC.  This Directive specialises in the appointment and training of safety advisors involved in the carriage of dangerous goods by road, rail and inland waterway.

The Directive requires that organisations involved in the transport, loading or unloading of dangerous goods by any of these means, appoint one or more Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors (DGSAs)

This legally required qualification is revalidated every 5 years and our 5 day programme is assessed by an open book examination.

The course is split into 3 groupings, each covering specific subjects:

Group 1 - Transport units, Marking and Placarding, Documentation.

Group 2 - Compliance Thresholds, Filing, Stowage, Loading and Segregations, Cleaning and/or Decontamination.

Group 3 - Operational Procedures, Emergency Response Requirements, Environmental Protection, Training, Legal Framework.

This course is aimed at those involved in the storage, handling and transportation by road of dangerous goods above designated load thresholds and is available at our Corby venue.

Cost:

Member - £875, Member Residential - £1375

Non-member - £980, Non-member residential - £1480

Examination fees in addition to the above are £285.00 and can be arranged at one of the approved SQA centres through CILT (UK).
