Two major elements of the strategy are now moving forward with an encouraging amount of momentum.
Firstly the schools initiative has been launched with Bishops Stopford School in Kettering: we have "recruited" a number of key companies to participate in the development of a teacher CPD initiative and these include 3PLs, manufacturers, rail companies, retailers and a parcel carrier. We have a number of other targets being worked on. In addition we hope soon to embark on the development of a programme for the autumn term with a range of visits for students and guest speakers at the school. This is very much a pilot scheme which we hope to roll out if successful. Commensurate with these activities are other initiatives focussed on careers officers.
Secondly we are developing excellent working relationships with other professional bodies and already this has manifested itself in the number of events that have been opened up to CILT members. A regional grouping of professional institutes is well under way and we hope that the next meeting of such will take place before the summer to decide on a structured route forward. If successful then this will open up a huge range of opportunities for CILT members in the East Midlands.
