Brit European Group selects TruckProtect solution

Published: 17 December 2007

Brit European Group has opted to implement the TruckProtect solution following incidents of fuel theft against the company.

Two members of the company came to the same conclusion after launching separate investigations into ways to tackle the problem and have selected the TruckProtect solution.

Brit European suffered large thefts from two of its vehicles during the course of the same weekend at opposite ends of the UK and fleet manager Stuart Brunt told Logistics Manager that TruckProtect had supplied a unit to examine and test.

"After a couple of weeks using the truck with the device fitted he reported no delays with refuelling and no issues with splashback or spillage," he explained. "So I ordered enough units - at the right price - to fit out the 90 vehicles that comprise our car transporter and tanker fleet."

Fuel theft is a growing problem for many transport operators and hauliers, with a number of companies now taking action to protect themselves against a crime that costs the industry millions of pounds each year.

The InstantFit NECK-IT device made by TruckProtect does not interfere with operational efficiency and the company has sold more than 10,000 units in its first full year of operation. A growing number of firms are now fitting the devices to their entire fleets following trials and testing.
