Logistics Academic Awards
The Logistics Dissertations of the Year Awards are presented to BSc, MSc/MBA and PhD students by the Logistics Research Network Forum. Winners are invited to receive their awards and a personal cheque for £500.00 at the Logistics Research Network (LRN) Conference Dinner. The LRN Conference Dinner and Awards presentation will be held on 11 September 2008 at the University of Liverpool. MSc/MBA and BSc Awards
Nomination forms for the annual Logistics Dissertations of the Year Awards are now available. The Awards are Undergraduate and Masters Dissertation of the Year.
Nominations for these awards are invited from course leaders. The 2008 Awards are open to dissertations submitted since 1st June 2007. Deadline for submissions is Friday 16 May 2008. The 2007 Awards were presented to:
Undergraduate Logistics Dissertation of the Year Winner 2007: David Fiske, University of Huddersfield for his thesis, “The effect of driver training on fuel efficiency: ref. Wincanton and Arla Foods”.
Masters Logistics Dissertation of the Year Winner 2007: Sah Satyendra, University of Huddersfield for his thesis, “A simulation study of the relationship between variability of demand and the cost of operations of vendor managed inventory with specific reference to Cummins Turbo Technologies”.

PhD - The James Cooper Memorial Cup
Submissions are now being accepted for The James Cooper Cup. The deadline for submission is Friday 16 May 2008. The Award is for research that makes an original contribution to the field and is directly relevant to the management of logistics and transport. The winner of the award will receive £500.00 in addition to this prestigious Cup.
Winner of the James Cooper Cup 2007, sponsored by The Logistics Business was:
Dr Partha Priya Datta, Cranfield University, Cranfield School of Management, for his dissertation, “A complex system, agent-based model for studying and improving the resilience of production and distribution networks”.
