Logistics Academic Awards

Logistics Academic Awards

The Logistics Dissertation of the Year Awards are presented, by the Logistics Research Network, to Undergraduate, Masters and PhD students from UK and Republic of Ireland universities.

Winners are invited to receive their award and a personal cheque for £500 at the LRN Conference Dinner.  The 2009 Awards will be presented on 10 September 2009 at the University of Cardiff.

Masters and Undergraduates Awards

Nomination forms for the annual Logistics Dissertations of the Year Awards are now available. The Awards are Undergraduate and Masters Dissertation of the Year.

Nominations for these awards are invited from course leaders.  

The 2009 Awards are open to dissertations submitted since 1st June 2008. Deadline for submissions is Friday 22nd May 2009.  

The 2008 Awards were presented to:

  • Undergraduate Logistics Dissertation of the Year Winner 2008: Robert Dye, University of Huddersfield for his thesis, ‘Local sourcing, road transport and sustainable distribution in a case study of beer in the UK'.
  • Masters Logistics Dissertation of the Year 2008: Zhang Xiaidong, Cranfield School of Management for, ‘An investigation on the cost effectiveness of thermally controlled reusable containers over disposable ones in the context of the clinical trial supply chain'.

The Awards were sponsored by LCP Consulting Ltd.

PhD - The James Cooper Memorial Cup

Submission for the 2009 James Cooper Memorial Cup will be accepted for PhDs awarded since 1st June 2008 to students in UK and Republic of Ireland universities.  The deadline for submissions is Friday 22 May 2009.  The Award is for research that makes an original contribution to the field and is directly relevant to the management of logistics and transport. The winner of the award will receive £500.00 in addition to this prestigious Cup. 

The winner of the James Cooper Memorial Cup 2008 was:

Dr Yuan Xing, Heriot-Watt University for, ‘An analysis of physical distribution service quality on the online retail markets'.
