Richard Brown Visits University of Greenwich for the Fourth CILT Student Conference
Richard Brown, Eurostar Chief Executive Officer visited the University of Greenwich on Monday, February 18; to attend the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport student workshop on logistics, transport and supply chain management. Richard Brown who takes over as CILT President in April 2008, talked about international transport in 21st century with recent outlooks of Eurostar.
The fourth CILT student conference in the University of Greenwich also hosted Paul Brooks, Unipart Consumer Logistics Sales Director and CILT Chairman, and Beth Cauldwell from Recruitment Consultancy Norman Broadbent as the other keynote speakers of the afternoon session. They presented current challenges of transport and logistics in practice, and introduced students with opportunities in job markets. Nigel Wild, principle lecturer of logistics and transport also delivered a “Supply Chain Simulation Game” recently developed in the University of Greenwich Business School.
Question and answer with the keynote speakers at the end of each session provided a good opportunity for students who attended the conference from variety of postgraduate programmes of the University of Greenwich and other London universities to find more about logistics and transport in global markets.
The other part of this one-day conference was allocated to selected students’ presentations. Four students presented their latest studies in fields of logistics and supply chain management:

- Mr Marc Akteries: New Trends in Supply Chain Performance Monitoring and Measurement
- Mr Ogunnowo Omotayo Abolaji: Humanitarian Relief Chain: What Various Roles has NGOs got to play?
- Mr Muhammad Raheel Islam: Relationship Management, Procurement Perspective
CILT London Region which organised the conference, offered all student presenters a one-year CILT membership, and also nominated Mr Muhammad Raheel Islam’s as the best presentation.
