WINNER: Faber Music Distribution in partnership with Zetes and Solarsoft
The successful implementation of a WMS solution, employing voice direction, has enabled Faber Music Distribution to double in size through acquisition, and gain a reputation as a technological innovator. Its investment paid back within 13 months.
The partnership with Zetes and Solarsoft Business Systems has increased order accuracy and cut delivery lead-time by 50%. In addition it has improved staff flexibility, productivity by over 35% and reduced errors to virtually zero. It has also enabled FMD customers to reduce their own inventory levels and has reduced the time to market for new products.
FINALIST: Indesit Company UK
Indesit Company Logistics provides white goods distribution of over 1 million products annually, to trade customers and direct to consumers.
They have deployed Masternaut Three X to provide a single hand-held unit which includes GPS tracking, electronic POD, satellite navigation, installation instructions, bar code scanning and VOSA vehicle checks, to support of improved service and efficiency.
The result is increased productivity, removal of paper processes and real-time visibility of delivery progress, which has led to an improvement in ‘right first time' deliveries, the ability to offer narrower delivery windows and significantly reduced fleet mileage.
FINALIST: Transdek UK
Seeking a solution to the slow take-up of rear-loading double-deck trailers, Transdek identified the barriers and embarked on a structured approach to overcoming them.
The result is a surface-mounted double-deck lift that is factory-built, facilitating rapid on-site installation, fits within existing loading bay dimensions, and can be easily re-located. It has proved to be suitable and cost-effective for installation at high throughput delivery points.
Its use has begun to encourage more companies to introduce or expand their use of double-deck trailers, achieving higher utilisation of available capacity, and gaining resultant environmental benefits.
