Martijn Gilbert

Martijn's career in the passenger transport industry has spanned both road and rail modes. He is currently the Road Transport Manager for Arriva UK Trains where he has led and managed the Road Transport Section of Arriva Trains since its inception in April 2008, having led the initial set up and implementation of new ‘in-house' management arrangements for road transport covering both the Arriva Trains Wales and CrossCountry rail franchises. At the 2009 Rail Business Awards his team were Highly Commended in the Integrated Transport Excellence category for their work in delivering notable improvements to the delivery of replacement road transport.

He joined Arriva Trains from fellow Arriva Group Company Tellings Golden Miller where he was the General Manager for their Surrey and Portsmouth bus and coach operations and had managed transport operations in Surrey and South West London for the previous seven years. He started his career in the transport industry as a trainee schedule compiler for London Underground in 2000.

He is a Chartered member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport and a member of the Institute of Operations Management. In 2009 Martijn won the Young Manager of the Year award at the Wales National Transport Awards, organised by CILT Cymru.
