- DHL Supply Chain in partnership with Jaguar Land Rover

Winner - DHL Supply Chain in partnership with Jaguar Land Rover
DHL supply chain for manufacturing logistics services set out their vision of being recognised as best in class and to achieve a ‘target zero' safety culture. This provided the foundation for the implementation of a significant number of safety initiatives from newsletters and ‘toilet talk' through to investment in accredited training from the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and the implementation of technology such as ‘traka i-fob impact shock sensor system'. Clear evidence supported the entry showing a reduction in the top three injury categories as well as cost benefits and operating improvements.
Finalists:
- Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions
Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions underlined their safety stance by committing to achieve ‘ZERO HARM' by 2012. This has seen a major investment with Mercedes-Benz and the development of a strong partnership with GreenRoad. The benefits of this can easily be recognised in the active and passive safety technology being used and the telematics providing real time monitoring of driving behaviour. ‘RiskMaster' complements the GreenRoad partnership providing Risk Assessment of individual drivers so that appropriate control interventions can be developed and acted upon at induction, demonstrating a core commitment to safety to both new and existing drivers. - Gist Limited
A sustained programme of safety improvement was evident early in Gist Limited's application. An impressive safety record has been achieved by integrating safety into every aspect of their business and rising to the challenge of making every employee take personal responsibility. Full commitment from the board along with an Integrated Management System helped to define ‘The Gist Standard'. The judging panel were particularly impressed by the extensive and accredited NVQ training as well as sharing of practices and key lessons throughout the whole Gist business. High engagement levels, targeted workshops and clear data were to be commended.
