Achievements can include improvements in organisation, technology, equipment and physical assets, human resources, information management or any other aspect of passenger transport; policy development, infrastructure, quality of recommendation, excellence of implementation and environmental sensitivity.

The Eco Drive Dashboard a new, very imaginative, practical and original project which supports improved driving leading to reduced fuel usage, increased passenger comfort and safety and less wear and tear on the vehicle and major components. The company claims that Feedback from operators is confirming that improvements in fuel efficiency are within the 15% to 20% range that the field trials, production acceptance trials and independent road tests by leading bus journalists had shown can be achieved. Operators are already seeing benefits. The Eco Drive programme has established the company as a leader in "green" technologies in the field.

Denbighshire is a small unitary authority in North Wales. This is an appropriately scaled, imaginative public transport innovation project aimed at tackling social exclusion and access to healthy lifestyles to a thinly populated area south of the county and dramatically altering the public transport landscape in the process. It consists of "Fflecsi" a demand responsive operation for villages; Shore, Shops and sights inter urban buses; A "Vale Ale" bus route to areas of outstanding natural beauty and a bus-focused real ale festival where users could leave their cars at home; and an Out and About project linking relatively deprived communities. - First TransPennine Express
The company has grown and developed its business by drawing passengers to its services, transformed punctuality, more passenger satisfaction and an inspired workforce. FTPE claims that despite being one of the county's smaller operators, it is now regarded as one of the best long distance train companies with consistent performance and commercial success. It has a commitment to developing rail travel for the North. The 100 strong FTPE team has together delivered quantified improvements in passenger satisfaction, performance, DMU reliability, passenger journeys and income, infrastructure upgrades, reduction in crime, staff job satisfaction, donations to charities and 30 Secured Status Stations.
