PDAS FAQs - How is Assessment and Verification undertaken?

There are two routes available to candidates:

APL Route:

  • Candidates can demonstrate competence through relevant job experience and/or attendance on accredited Institute training courses
  • Candidates must complete a written paper - PDAS provides guidance on the length and content of the paper and supports the candidates in completing the paper

Workplace and Portfolio Assessment and Verification:

  • Where the candidate needs to complete a Portfolio of evidence, the Assessor will provide direct workplace support. The ICA will identify which areas have to be assessed and which are already covered by APL
  • During the programme the Assessor will visit the candidate's workplace for pre-arranged meetings. Typically this will involve four visits over a 12 month period
  • The Assessor is always contactable between assessment visits to provide continuing and ongoing support and guidance to the candidate

PDAS includes Internal Verification. The Institute carries out External Verification in accordance with national accreditation requirements and Institute Quality Assurance requirements.
