PDAS FAQs - What is the Initial Competence Analysis (ICA)?
ICA consists of 4 stages:
- Stage 1 - the Self-Assessment Questionnaire that sets out a range of task-based competence criteria for logistics activities matched to the criteria within CILT(UK) qualifications. The candidate completes the questionnaire and a comparison of the responses against benchmark criteria establishes a skills profile and identifies any performance gaps
- Stage 2 - Assessor Moderation that highlights any inconsistencies or apparent misinterpretations, prior to a one-to-one meeting between the Assessor and the candidate
- Stage 3 - the ICA Report which shows:
- Overall level of competence
- Areas where evidence can be generated
- Areas where prior learning and experience is indicated
- Any activities not currently undertaken
- List of competence shortfalls/gaps
- Stage 4 - a Personal Development plan is produced identifying:
- Proposals for dealing with shortfalls/gaps, including identification of solutions to give the individual the opportunity to get the necessary evidence
- Training and development needs with identification of the options for meeting them
