Professional Sectors - Process Management Data Forum

What is PMD?

Process Management Data (PMD) is a Predetermined Time System (PTS). It provides accurate data that is easily adapted to specific processes and quantification needs.

What is a Predetermined Time?

It is the time needed, within reasonable limits, for experienced personnel to execute a basic human motion or activity. These basic motions form the ‘building blocks' of any PTS System and allow trained staff to create time values for any action, activity or process.

Why use a Predetermined Time System?

The majority of ‘time consuming activities' carried out within any process are normally performed by human beings. By applying Predetermined Times to these activities an organisation can quickly establish the basic time for a process. These timings can then be used as a basis for performance measurement or,as part of a re-engineering process, to calculate the benefits of proposed or actual changes.

What is PMD?

  • It is a well established technique for analysing and quantifying the majority of commercial activities.
  • It is a data system that is easily understood, quickly applied and readily accepted.
  • It is an accurate system of values, the application of which is only limited by the nature of the activity and the requirements of the organisation.
  • It is a dynamic system which is regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current working trends and technological advances.
  • It is unusual in that users are actively encouraged to contribute to improvements and enhancements
