Professional Sectors & Forums - Passenger Transport Security
Chairman: Peter Whent FCILT
The terrorist atrocities of recent years have raised the profile of transport security, especially around passenger transport environments. It is not a field of study in which CILT has had any real involvement, yet the Institute is well qualified to take on this important subject.
Transport security appears very straightforward at a superficial level, but when it is studied in earnest it becomes clear that it is a complex subject, with a very significant number of components. This situation is exacerbated even more by the continuing terrorist threat, which we are told will endure for at least the next decade.
It is anticipated that the Forum will look at best practice, hold specialist seminars and produce a series of briefing papers.
Ultimately, it is intended that CILT will become a natural repository for information in the field of security, providing informed comment and briefing Government, transport organisations and the media as appropriate.
The Forum may be able to assist with providing speakers for Regional or Group meetings.
