Professional Sectors & Forums - Supply Chain Inventory Management
Topics and how to get involved
Communication with Forum members
The events provide an ideal opportunity for members to discuss topics with peers, but not all forum members are interested in all topics and cannot make every event.
We have recently set up a sub-discussion group for SCIM within the CILT group in the professional networking facility LinkedIn. Please join the group to review and post new topical discussions within the forum.
We also produce a newsletter periodically which includes interesting articles from members. Latest Newsletter
Discussion Topics
Through a questionnaire sent out to members of the forum in 2008, the forum aims to host events on the most popular topics. With the new structure of professional sectors and forums, it is the intention to repeat the questionnaire again.
Requests for new topics for seminar events or site based case study visits are welcomed by members. Please Contact the forum with your suggestions or post a new discussion using the Linked-in group.
The 2008 questionnaire highlighted the 5 most popular topics of interest as follows:
- Demand planning and forecasting - 65%
- Stock optimisation - 53%
- Inventory management systems - 52%
- Replenishment planning - 41%
- Vendor managed inventory - 40%
Popular inventory "gaps" were identified as:
- Forecasting and planning
- Inventory accuracy
- Warehouse Management Systems
- Stock optimisation
Forum Meetings
All forum members are invited to attend meetings to organise future events which we try to schedule after a seminar or site visit events to minimise travelling. The meetings are concise and are an ideal opportunity to network and share ideas for new events.
