Bristol, Gloucester & Somerset Group

Chairman: Neil Emery CMILT

The Bristol, Gloucester & Somerset Group is part of the South West Region along with Devon & Cornwall Group.

A warm welcome to the regional web site of the Bristol, Gloucester & Somerset area (BGS). Our objectives are:

  • to organise local events for local members drawing on local knowledge of who is doing what and which would be of interest to others
  • to generate an active network amongst the membership and facilitate networking with other related organisations and institutions
  • to establish a shop window for Institute membership and services
  • to be come a highly respected, locally organised, professional group

We, as a group, have a wide and diverse background from logistics, transport and supply chain to operations and from large multi-national businesses to the small/medium businesses; which enables us all to bring a wide range of skills and interests to the group.

The events that have been held have so far have been The Autumn Lectures, the Meet Your Institute event, followed by an exciting lecture on logistics support in humanitarian aid, and a visit to one of the largest extruders of PVCU profiles in the UK (followed by some challenging discussions). More recently we gained an insight into the logistical challenges of a brewery which vary from flow management, tractability requirements to reverse logistics.

When we look back and review what we have achieved as a region it is encouraging to see that since the first meeting, the BGS group now has a role to play within the Institute and the future for the Group has a solid platform.

If you are one of the 600 members in the BGS group we would like to here from you, especially about where we can help you as an Institute, whether it is professional knowledge or the opportunity to network, we are here to help.
