Supply Chain Inventory Management Forum

Chairman: Tim Polkinghorne MILT

Your Institute is introducing some changes, making us more open and relevant to you, whichever sector of logistics or transport you work in.

We are replacing the four Faculties with eight Professional Sectors. These Professional Sectors will provide specialist activity for a particular area of interest whilst continuing to offer opportunity and involvement across the profession.

What you need to do...

We are now asking all members to update their details and tell us which Professional Sectors and Forums they want to belong to as soon as possible. You can do this in a number of ways - online through ‘My Membership', complete the Member Selection form that you will shortly receive in Focus, or complete the form included on the Current Awareness Bulletin over the next few weeks.

Please note, you can now belong to as many Professional Sectors and Forums as you wish.

Should you wish to make your selections online, please remember that you will need to create your password to login if you have not already done so. A short guide to making your selection online is available here.

Supply Chain Inventory Management Forum

SCIM Forum Mission Statement

The Forum’s aim is to discuss how to manage and control inventory safely and efficiently from source to end user to ensure the right quantity, quality, price, place, and time with the correct documentation, packaging and identification. It seeks to develop a better understanding of how the supply chain concept and inventory positioning is driving the development of commercial, logical and physical activities within any logistics or supply chain solution. By focusing on real case history activity it establishes how supply chains have been developed.

The impact of the Internet and e-commerce solutions on supply chains, for example, from business-to-business to consumer order fulfilment, demand planning and forecasting, has affected many organisations. Its work with focus groups in this field has been beneficial to organisations and its members.

Glossary of terms

The Forum has produced a glossary of supply chain inventory management terms providing a useful online resource for Institute members. Members are invited to provide suggestions for additions or changes to keep the glossary up-to-date. /images/library/m-icon.gif Available to CILT(UK) Members only - Login to activate link
