CILT(UK) Student Project & Placement Network (SPPN)

What is a project/placement network?

The SPPN is a meeting place for university students and employers who are either seeking or offering in-company projects/placements.

Students/Universities

The SPPN provides supply chain, logistics, public transport, transport planning and transport policy students (and/or university lecturers) who are seeking projects or placements as part of their degree programmes an opportunity to register their interests.

Employers

For employers who are seeking graduate or post-graduate students to undertake a specific piece of work can do the same.

Graduates/Postgraduate projects

Company-based projects will expose students to practical problems requiring them to demonstrate their ability to analyse a given problem and to provide a critical assessment. The resulting report will count towards their final grade. Time required will vary according to the university and level of degree.

Graduate Placements

10 month in-company placements to provide the students with professional level experience during the 3rd year of a four-year degree programme. Or a summer vacation placement (between 8-12 weeks) between years 2 and 3 of a three-year degree programme.

The projects and placements posted on the SPPN site can be in any area of logistics/supply chain or transport/transport planning/policy. Students undertaking thesis-related projects or 10 month placements will have an academic supervisor as well as a supervisor/mentor in the sponsoring organisation.

CILT(UK) role

It aims to provide an opportunity for student [members] to secure projects or placements and for employers to advertise their requirements. The responsibility for making contact either with a student or with an employer is yours.
