Transport Planning and Transport-Related Masters Degrees

Do you want to make a real difference to people's lives?

As a transport planner, you could be solving some of the most pressing problems facing our society and economy, taking advantage of new technology to find innovative solutions, combining sensitivity to the environment with robust analysis of the effects of alternative solutions.

There are openings for people from many different backgrounds. Transport planning is not just for engineers. Environmental scientists, economics, town planners, mathematicians, geographers and others are just as likely to be found in key positions, setting the agenda and leading the search for new policies.

The Institute's Transport Planning Forum considers current issues on transport planning, policy and practice and formulates responses to them as appropriate for the Institute and aims to provide an active focus for transport planners.

For information on Masters level courses, please download the leaflet 'Where are you headed?' This document lists transport-related Masters Degrees in Britain, providing university contact details and information about costs and funding. It also includes a number of case studies on people who have used their Masters Degrees to launch themselves successfully into careers in transport planning.
