Warehousing & Materials Handling Forum
Chairman: Bernard Molloy FCILT
Your Institute is introducing some changes, making us more open and relevant to you, whichever sector of logistics or transport you work in.
We are replacing the four Faculties with eight Professional Sectors. These Professional Sectors will provide specialist activity for a particular area of interest whilst continuing to offer opportunity and involvement across the profession.
What you need to do...
We are now asking all members to update their details and tell us which Professional Sectors and Forums they want to belong to as soon as possible. You can do this in a number of ways - online through ‘My Membership', complete the Member Selection form that you will shortly receive in Focus, or complete the form included on the Current Awareness Bulletin over the next few weeks.
Please note, you can now belong to as many Professional Sectors and Forums as you wish.
Should you wish to make your selections online, please remember that you will need to create your password to login if you have not already done so. A short guide to making your selection online is available here.

Warehousing & Materials Handling Forum
During the last few years, the role of the warehouse has radically changed to meet increasing demands of more responsive supply chains. The warehouse has taken on the role of manufacturing as a mass customisation centre and retailing where it supplies direct to the end-user. Inventory carrying costs have been recognised as a key financial measure and the cost of capital employed in a warehouse impacts the bottom line.
Many complex technologies are now deployed in order to produce an effective operation and to optimise the cost-performance equation. Resulting in our facilitation in project support groups and dissemination of information on trends, best practice and design.
Forum Mission Statement
'To initiate review and discussion in all areas of warehouse design, operation, and in the appropriate use of technology and materials handling.
To share information with members via the setting up of events and workshops and by providing articles on the forum website.
To aim where applicable to collate common standards of (best) practice to promote operational improvement and benchmarking.'
