WINNER: Scott Dunn MILT, Managing Director, Diamond Bus Company
Scott Dunn MILT grew up cleaning buses for the family bus operator business at age 10, and has progressed to Managing Director of the Diamond Bus Company.
His successful leadership of Diamond has turned it from a loss making business to a £12m, profit making concern.
Driving operational efficiency by streamlining networks and restructuring departments, Scott stemmed the losses. His focus on team engagement, new systems and personal touch in the complete re-branding exercise, which launched a new local and quality feel to vehicles and service, turned Diamond around.
Scott's ambition is noted in his commitment to gaining part-time study qualifications, and various awards throughout his career. His leadership style is dedicated and innovative.
FINALIST: Laurence Garnett MILT, Regional Operations Manager - North, Boots UK
As Northern Regional Operations Manager for Boots UK Supply Chain, Lawrence Garnett is responsible for a £37m budget, and 8 in-house regional distribution centres.
Lawrence's success involves improving key service measures while leading his team through a major transformation programme, through a focus on people development. This initiative enabled his team facing redundancy to secure new role opportunities or leave with the best possible qualifications.
Key achievements include reducing labour costs through operational efficiency, and developing new workload planning and labour management tools.
Lawrence is noted for his focus on people engagement and operational efficiency in times of disruption. He was awarded the Boots Supply Chain Line Manager of the Year Award 08-09.
FINALIST: Dan Myers, Business Unit Director, Norbert Dentressangle
Business Unit Director of Food and Aviation, Dan Myers, has progressed rapidly through his career at Christian Salvesen, now Norbert Dentressangle. Responsible for a £95m business unit, Dan covers operations, through financial performance, business development, to health and safety.
Notable successes include transforming the transport service from a loss to a sizeable profit; gaining £30m of new business in one year; site improvements to deliver significant profit contribution increases, and at times the highest contribution in his particular division; and near perfect health and safety in his sites.
Proactive and driven, Dan is known for his complex problem solving ability and strong, engaging leadership style.
