Young Professionals Forum (YPF)
Chairman: Alison Ross
Mission Statement:
The Young Professionals Forum (YPF) exists to strengthen the appeal of the CILT(UK) to young professionals working in the logistics and transport sectors. The YPF aims to engage the interest and involvement of young professionals by emphasising the benefits the CILT has to offer them; and create an environment that is meaningful and supportive of younger members keen to develop their careers.
Aims:
- Encourage existing members to become more active
- Engage new members
- Provide opportunities for professional development
- Create networks of similar people
- Promote employer support
- Provide a voice back into the industry
Key Principles:
- Deliver the message of the benefits of being a member of the CILT, using existing structures and some new content, to emphasise the relevance to young professionals to encourage involvement
- Generate new interest and involvement by actively engaging existing passive members and new members. Explore new opportunities and changes in approach, and adapt as necessary to create new appeal
The Forum was initiated by the former president of CILT(UK), Professor Alan G Waller OBE FCILT. It sits alongside the Logistics Directors Forum and is not associated to a particular Professional Sector. As such it is not biased towards any one discipline within the logistics and transport sectors. Its focus is towards gaining and fostering the skills that all young managers need to progress through their careers.
The YPF is facilitated by a committee and aims to run at least two national events a year focused on topics that will appeal to young professionals from all backgrounds. YPF will also support other Institute events and share information through this web site, eDiscussion, 'Focus', email, and YPF presence.
At a regional level, there are YP Reps on the Regional Committees, who represent the young professionals in their region. They feed into the national committee and ensure the Forum is up to date with activities for YPs across the country.
To know more about what’s going in your region contact us on the email below and we’ll put you in touch with your Regional YP Rep.
