CILT presents “Route to Recovery” – a collaboration with ITN Productions Industry News

25 May 2021/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Active Travel & Travel Planning, Aviation, Bus & Coach, Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain, Operations Management, Ports, Maritime & Waterways, Rail, Transport Planning, Institute News, Brexit, Coronavirus, Net-Zero

Launching October 2021 – CILT and ITN Productions Industry News will be co-creators of a news-style programme, exploring the vital role of the transport and logistics industry and the driving force behind the industry, its people.

The world is dependent on the transport and logistics sector with around 80% of global trade volume being transported by commercial shipping.  Every day, experts in the field are developing and proposing new solutions to help overcome some of the biggest challenges facing our world today. Like most industries however, COVID-19 has left its footprint on the industry ranging from supply chain disruptions to halting passenger travel.

Anchored by an ITN Productions presenter, Route to Recovery will explore how the sector is adapting to facilitate future growth and will highlight the key disruptors that will influence the future of the industry from technological breakthroughs and evolving customer expectations to climate change and the race to net zero. Much of the sector’s success depends on the quality and qualifications of its employers. The programme will highlight the work being done to improve the sector’s image and the recruitment drive that is inspiring the next generation of talent.

Launching in October 2021, the programme will combine key sector interviews, informative news items and sponsored editorial profiles from leading organisations. The programme will form part of an extensive communications campaign featuring CILT members and professional partners.

Kevin Richardson, CEO of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with ITN Productions this year with the Route to Recovery programme. COVID-19 and the UK’s exit from the EU have highlighted the importance of transport, logistics and supply chains to society and the economy. Adapting to meet the challenges of net-zero emissions, economic recovery and consumer demands  will require further changes supported by the increased use of technology and the development of new skills. Debating these topics and sharing good practice will be key to the profession and this programme will support and enable this across the year.”

Nina Harrison-Bell, Head of ITN Productions Industry News said: “We are excited to be working with CILT once again to make a programme that raises awareness of the importance of the sector to individuals and society.  We hope the programme encourages debate and knowledge sharing amongst leaders within the profession and raises the profile of the logistics and transport industry as an exciting profession for the next generation dedicated to improving our world.”
