Search launched for Next Generation Chair

01 April 2022/Categories: CILT

CILT(UK)’s Annual Conference will take place on Wednesday 22 June at Warwick Conferences, Coventry. This year’s theme is ‘Thriving in a Changing World’ and for the first time in CILT(UK) history, we are recruiting a Next Generation professional to Chair the conference.

This inaugural posting of a Next Generation conference chair, to accompany the theme of a changing world, requires applicants to submit a short video (up to two minutes) about their thoughts on the conference theme. Interviews with a panel of judges, including Bethany Windsor MILT, CILT (UK)’s Programme Manager for its next generation programmes, and Helen Gallimore FCILT, Associate Lecturer at University of Derby and previous CILT(UK) Conference host.

To meet the Next Generation criteria, the prospective applicants must be a member of CILT(UK) at graduate, affiliate or MILT level. The individual will need to be available in person on Wednesday 22 June in Coventry, and they must be comfortable with public speaking in front of a large audience of people.

The theme, ‘Thriving in a Changing World’, has been chosen to best showcase organisations that have undergone significant change in difficult circumstances and have prospered. Some of the confirmed speakers include:

• Sean Culey FCILT, Client Partner at Aera Technology

• Paul Durkin, Chief Customer & Innovation Officer at Wincanton

• Simon Dixon, CEO & Founder at Hatmill • Catherine Weetman, Director at Rethink Global

• Students and graduates from CILT(UK)’s NOVUS programme

Kevin Richardson, Chief Executive at CILT(UK) said: “At CILT, we know the future of our profession is in the hands of the Next Generation, which is why we want to provide as many opportunities as possible to give young professionals a voice and facilitate valuable networking and professional development initiatives for this crucial group of members. I’m excited about the launch of this initiative and look forward to seeing the applications.”

Oliver Craig, Scheme Sponsor at Network Rail, Next Generation Chair at CILT (UK) and one of the judges, said: “There are so many next generation professionals who could do a fantastic job here, and I encourage those reading this to get involved. Having a Next Generation Chair for the CILT Annual Conference really is a great opportunity for both the institute and those who wish to apply.”

Applications are open as of 1 April. For questions, or to apply for the role of Chair, please visit bit.ly/NGCHAIR. More details for the conference are available on CILT website and social media channels.
