Omega North has quickly become a major logistics hub

03 May 2013/Categories: Industry News

Travis Perkins has signed a subject to planning deal that will see the firm build a 700,000 sq ft 'Regional Distribution Centre' at the Omega North site in the north-west of England.

The site - which can be found at Junction 8 of the M62 in Warrington - has proven to be exceptionally popular, with Brakes and Hermes being confirmed as occupiers thus far.

Joint managing director of Miller Developments, a partner of Omega Warrington, Andrew Sutherland said the level of occupier success at Omega North is unprecedented in the UK.

"The fact that, subject to planning being granted, we have only two small sites left on Omega North demonstrates that we have now created a major logistics hub in the north-west," he remarked.

It is always encouraging to see new warehouses and distribution centres being built in the UK, as there are concerns that demand is starting to outweigh supply.

A recent study by Jones Lang LaSalle suggested that this is a Europe-wide problem and firms across the continent could need 25 million sq m of extra space over the next five years.
