Junction improvement and new road will improve journeys to Luton Airport and local area.

Transport Minister Andrew Jones opened the remodelled Junction 10A of the M1 near Luton today, Thursday 16 July 2015.

The new major roundabout connects the M1 spur to the important Airport Way and London Road routes. The scheme received £25 million government funding and will allow easier access to Luton Airport, reduce congestion, and open up future housing and employment developments in the area.

During the visit, Andrew Jones also put the first spade in the ground on the Woodside Link road to mark the start of the main construction phase.

Following £25 million of government funding, the scheme will improve commercial links between Houghton Regis and the M1 to support Bedfordshire’s economic growth and housing delivery.

Andrew Jones said: 'These schemes will make it easier for people to access Luton Airport and the M1, providing better journeys for residents and businesses and supporting more housing and jobs.'

'The government is committed to investing in faster and more reliable transport links. These road schemes are part of our long term economic plan to deliver benefits for everyone.'

The new Junction 10A scheme has received £25 million government funding through the Regional Growth Fund. The total cost of the scheme is £30 million.
