The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) celebrated recently, as its Transport and Logistics Safety Forum, and their members, picked up honours at this year’s Fleet Safety Awards.

The Institute’s Transport and Logistics Safety Forum was highly commended for the Fleet Safety Partnership Award. The award celebrates the partnership of a fleet service provider with another organisation that has delivered the most outstanding results to improve fleet safety.

The Forum was commended for its work in creating a short film highlighting the need for logistics and transport companies to work together and put road safety at the top of the business agenda.

The Institute has gone on to develop its film, Our vehicles, our safety, our responsibility: Improving road safety for vulnerable road users, by converting it into an interactive training programme which is now incorporated into all FORS, ROSPA and other high profile training courses.

There was further success for the Forum, as Alison Moriarty CMILT, Fleet Risk & Compliance Manager, Skanska; Dr Will Murray FCILT, Research Director, eDriving FLEET; and Andrew Drewary CMILT, Andrew Drewary Consultancy, were recognised at the prestigious event.

Alison was the winner of the Road Risk Manager of the Year Award and was nominated due to her unrivalled commitment to minimising road risk and shaping driver behaviour within the profession.

Andrew was highly commended for the Fleet Safety Analysis and Action Award, celebrating his work in implementing the most effective procedures for carrying out risk assessments, crash data analysis, and using the data to introduce tailored interventions.

Dr Will Murray was part of the team that collaborated with Nestlé Italy and Zurich Insurance, to win the Fleet Safety Partnership Award. eDriving FLEET is a global provider of driver safety management solutions that shapes and influences drivers' attitude and behaviour towards safer travel.

Dean Clamp, Chair, Transport and Logistics Safety Forum, CILT says: “It is a delight to see our Forum celebrated in such a way. I must say a massive well done to Alison, Andrew and to all who take part in the activities of the Forum. It is a testimony to the calibre and commitment of the people involved with our Forum that such success has been achieved both individually and collectively.”

Kevin Richardson, Chief Executive, CILT, said: “My congratulations go out to all that participated in allowing CILT to be recognised at the Fleet Safety Awards. I know that a lot of work has been done through the CILT Safety and Logistics Forum and it is great to see the efforts recognised through BRAKE and to the wider public.”
