Labyrinth’s ground-breaking transport compliance system receives top industry recognition

02 November 2016/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Logistics & Supply Chain, Operations Management

Labyrinth Logistics Consulting was the winner in the Information Management category at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport’s (CILT) prestigious UK Awards for Excellence 2016.

Labyrinth collected the award for its innovative transport compliance web application, SilkThread®.

SilkThread® provides an easy-to-use and comprehensive online tool for transport operators – from single depots to major multi-site businesses – to manage all aspects of the complex but crucial requirements of transport compliance.

Speaking at the CILT awards ceremony, which took place recently at Lancaster Gate, London, Labyrinth’s Managing Director, Ruth Waring FCILT, said: “We are delighted to have received this award which recognises the expert knowledge and painstaking effort that has gone into delivering an application that makes transport compliance part of the modern online world that businesses operate in.”

She continued: “Previous winners and nominees for this award include organisations such as Wickes, Transport for London, Heathrow Airport and National Express.  In contrast, Labyrinth Logistics Consulting is an SME but with a high level of expert knowledge in this area which has allowed us to deliver a targeted solution, using our industry expertise and market awareness.”

In simple terms, SilkThread® guides users through a self-audit of their operation and identifies issues and gaps in compliance, alerts users to key dates and updates them with relevant legislation changes. Up-to-date, depot-by-depot compliance status across a user’s entire operation is a key feature of the software.

Ruth Waring added: “Users of SilkThread® have found that the application has a significant and positive effect on the way that they manage compliance by making it a part of everything they do. Because SilkThread® gives users a complete understanding of their own operation, issues are addressed as they arise.”

“These are interesting times for innovations in transport compliance as the DfT move towards the Earned Recognition model of regulation.  Labyrinth is currently working on rolling out SilkThread® into the critical compliance areas of Earned Recognition and Health & Safety.”
