First drive to recruit more bus drivers
First Glasgow is on the hunt for an number of new bus drivers for its services in Lanarkshire. Trainee bus drivers and PCV licence holders are required to support First’s Blantyre and Overtown depots. 

The company recently held a very successful Bus Driver Recruitment Open Day at its Blantyre bus depot. 

Prospective bus drivers were invited to bring their driving licence and meet the team to find out more about training, benefits, salaries and what a day in the life of a bus driver at First is like. Interviews were also carried out on the day. 

First Glasgow’s recruitment manager, Stuart Kennedy, said: “Bus drivers are the key to our company's success and we spend a lot of time investing in the right people. Being a bus driver is more than just driving, it’s about delivering great customer service. 

“We’re looking for confident people with excellent customer service skills who enjoy working and dealing with people. We’re encouraging excellent drivers who are prepared to work shifts and are enthusiastic and flexible in their work ethic to contact us today.” 

He added: “We enjoyed meeting many prospective drivers and introducing them to our team at our Open Day. They were very interested to find out more about the training we deliver and I’d encourage anyone who is interested in joining our team to get in touch.” 

First Glasgow provides training and offer new drivers the chance to gain their PCV licence at the company’s training school. 

Qualified bus drivers can expect to earn £20,000 per annum.
