The SELRAP Route by Bus

Thursday 10th July 2008

The SELRAP Route by Bus Lancashire & Cumbria Group CILT (UK) 10th July, unusually for this summer saw a rare outbreak fine weather and sunshine greet the 20 plus members of the institute who gathered at Fraser Eagle Padiham for a guided tour of the proposed re-instatement of the Skipton and East Lancashire Rail Route. The evening tour was expertly given by Andy Shackleton who took party from Colne through to Skipton highlighting not only the economic benefits to the area, the ease of the reinstatement, but also highlighted the congestion busting potential of the route. Skipton station was the final destination for the journey where Andy Shackleton highlighted how a properly planned and executed rail commuter infrastructure (the electrification of the Skipton – Leeds Route) has transformed not only the daily commute but also the economic benefits that such a scheme can bring to an area. The Lancashire & Cumbria Group thank not only Andy Shackleton for this time but also Fraser Eagle who provided an expertly driven executive coach for the evening.
