Transport2 (UK), the Transport Management company behind the CoachHire.com platform, has announced the acquisition of the business and assets of Momentum Hub Ltd.
CoachHire.com has developed innovative technology that is revolutionising the Mobility as a Service sector, bringing the group transport industry in line with other high-tech areas of the transportation industry. The leading platform enhances safety and reduces pollution by allowing data-driven optimisation, enables tracking and notifications about a journey’s progress.
This acquisition of Momentum follows £5.75 million investment from Souter Investments over the last 14 months, which has been invested to develop CoachHire.com’s industry-leading passenger-safeguarding and tracking system for Home to School services.
The acquisition means the CoachHire.com platform will provide services to more than 2 million passengers within the Education, Corporate and Leisure sectors via more than 1,500 coach and minibus suppliers on their Preferred Supplier Programme.
The company’s innovative technology allows it to employ its “Right Vehicle, Right Journey” policy, meaning that vehicles with the correct capacity for the journey are used, therefore minimising harm to the environment and reducing congestion. As 25% of morning traffic can be attributed to the school run, CoachHire.com’s technology-focused, shared solution helps reduce environmental impact, an issue that is front of mind for parents, pupils and schools. Cutting pollution is also a big reason for sharing trips - meaning fewer cars on the road, as one 49-seater coach is equivalent to 31 cars at average UK passenger occupancy.
The SchoolSafe apps ensure that over 5,000 children across the UK benefit from safe travel to and from school every day. The technology also enables schools to assess their current school pick-up and drop-off methods, allowing them to make data-driven changes and identify new routes to be added. The software allows CoachHire.com’s experts to optimize routes that have often remained static for years to meet changing demand each academic year and communicate these effectively to new and existing parents.
As well as being the largest provider of managed Home to School solutions in the UK, CoachHire.com’s suite of apps is also used by corporate and leisure customers for staff shuttles and large-scale events.
