Drivers warned of possible delays using Woolwich Ferry

04 March 2014/Categories: Industry News

Transport for London (TfL) has warned drivers to expect delays making their way to the Woolwich Ferry.

Maintenance work has begun on the jetty which gives traffic access to the service. Transport officials state the project is essential to make sure passengers will be able to use the facility for years to come.

During the works, temporary lane closures will be in force, however TfL claimed the use of traffic management systems would help keep any delays to an absolute minimum. Meanwhile, drivers were advised to use alternative methods of crossing the river during peak times.

Andrew Thompson, head of London River Services, commented: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused to your journey while these essential maintenance works are ongoing."

Work on the north side of the viaduct will commence as soon as the first bout of repairs have been completed, although officials made no comment as to when this would be. The entire projected is scheduled to be finished by the end of May.
