DLR performing at 'record high' levels

18 February 2014/Categories: Industry News

The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) has recorded its highest-ever punctuality scores.

During the period between January 5th and February 1st, 99.67 per cent of trains ran on time and the operators Secro delivered 99.77 of its scheduled service. These constitute the best performance figures in the railway's 26-year history.

Transport for London officials attributed the success of the DLR to the efforts of its staff and claimed it was one of the the most reliable and punctual networks in the country. They also promised to continue their efforts to further improve quality.

Serco docklands managing director Kevin Thomas said: "This is a phenominal result and a true demonstration of our commitment to making every journey matter for DLR's passengers."

The news comes as a welcome respite for officials, who have recently weathered the threat of strike action on the service. The RMT union had promised to stage a walkout over pay and working conditions.

The performance figures measure how many trains operated during the survey period, while the reliability score looked at the percentage of vehicles that ran on time.
