King's Cross passenger satisfaction rates soar

19 March 2013/Categories: Industry News

Major improvements made to King's Cross station appear to have had the desired effect, as passenger satisfaction levels have soared since the regeneration work was completed.

New statistics provided by Passenger Focus have shown the busy London-based transport hub has jumped from bottom in the standings (based on Network Rail-owned stations) last year to joint-top in 2013.

The study showed that 94 per cent of customers were happy with the station this year, which is a huge increase on the 56 per cent figure from 2012.

Since March 2012, King's Cross has benefited from a new western concourse, major reglazing and roof renovations, easier access to King's Cross Square and a number of new train services.

"Passengers tell us that station improvements make a big difference to their journey experience," commented Passenger Focus chief executive Anthony Smith, who urged other stations to follow King's Cross's lead by upgrading their facilities.

Earlier this year, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall visited the new-look inner-city station and they were impressed by what they saw.
