Campaign launches to get young people wild about buses

02 April 2015/Categories: CILT, Industry News

A new campaign is launching in Sheffield to encourage young people to get wild about travelling by bus.

Sheffield Bus Partnership is launching an online competition that will see one lucky winner bag £1,000 by showing what they like to use their local bus for.

Using the internet phenomena of funny animal memes in a creative campaign, Sheffield Bus Partnership aims to grab the attention of young people and remind them of the benefits of travelling by bus.

Young people can enter a caption competition on Sheffield Bus Partnership’s website www.sheffieldbuspartnership.co.uk, or take part in ‘Onesie Friday’ on 24 April and contribute a selfie picture to be in with a chance of winning.

Richard Proctor, Transport Planning Manager, Sheffield City Council said, 'For young people, traveling by bus gives them independence and freedom. Buses are a convenient and economical way to get around – whether going to see friends, going out socialising, or getting to college or work.  Sheffield Bus Partnership aims to remind young people of the benefits and by engaging them in a creative, fun competition find out more about how they use their bus.

The campaign is a mix of online advertising, caption and photo competitions and street teams – who will be easy to spot when out and about in Sheffield as they’ll be dressed in animal onesies too. Sheffield Bus Partnership believes it will be a fun, engaging way to remind young people about the benefits of getting around by bus.'
