Dorothy bids farewell to CILT Presidency

16 January 2015/Categories: CILT International News

My presidency ended on 31st December 2014 and it is my pleasure to welcome Paul Brooks as President of CILT 2015-2016 and Kevin Byrne as President Elect.

Paul and I have been working closely together for the past two years. With the CILT office in UK and myself in Hong Kong, I relied heavily on both Paul and Keith to help put our ideas into action. We shared out our visits to enable us to communicate face-to-face with as many countries as possible.

During my two years of presidency, I have seen the family grow Stronger Together under the new unified logo to represent our vision as the first choice professional body in Supply Chain, Logistics and Transport.

We have formed 15 Women in Transport and Logistics groups and established a new branch in Macau. Sri Lanka, Nigeria and China have gained territorial status and we have re-activated our links with Malta.

Congratulations to all on the achievements of these new territories.

I started off my presidency with an article titled: “Hong Kong – A City of World Transport” and I have contributed a further article, which can be found in the features section of this newsletter, on Hong Kong’s railway fare regulatory regime.

The International Association of Public Transport has recently published an urban mobility index and Hong Kong ranks number one in terms of maturity and high connectivity in the public transport system which is based on using railway as the backbone.

Correlated to this is that Hong Kong is one of the few CILTs where senior transport professionals in the government are required to possess CILT qualifications, and I have repeated this message during my various country visits and meetings with local officials.

CILT will continue to contribute actively to the fast growing supply chain, logistics and transport sectors and my heartiest thanks to all of you for allowing me to serve as your President.

I am thankful to the Council of Trustees for their faith in me and to our International Vice Presidents for their contribution. I have had a very good and rewarding two years and I am sure we will give our strongest support to Paul.

You will see me at CILT activities in the future and if you are visiting Hong Kong, please know that I am around.

Dorothy Chan, FCILT
