13 October 2014/Categories: CILT International News

Paul Brooks, President Elect for the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, will assume Presidential Office on the 1st January 2015 and he is keen to stress that taking over from Dorothy Chan will be ‘business as usual’.

Paul has set out a clear agenda for growth and is working with IVP’s to make this a reality. The agenda will focus on:

  1. Working with fast growth countries such as India and China to set them on the path to be the largest countries by membership numbers over the next 5 years

  2. To establish the processes that allow one new country presence per quarter in order to have over 50 territories and branches within 5 years

  3. To create a global corporate offer for those organisations that want to work with CILT in all 7 global regions

  4. To regionalise our growth plans through supporting and developing the role of IVP’s to work closely on a regional basis with countries in order to grow all elements of their services to members

The new vision, mission and values set a clear agenda supporting the theme of being ‘Stronger Together’.

Paul believes a real stepping stone for the future development of working more closely together under the new global brand, has been the emergence of the three key areas of the strategy; growth, capability and governance.

The last two years CILT International has focused on building greater capability and increasing the visibility of core global developments: the growth of Women in Logistics and Transport and the strengthening of the Young Person’s International Committee. Paul believes it is now time to combine all of these strengths in a clear growth agenda.

“Growth for any organisation will only come from being truly relevant to the individuals who can see a clear value in the products and services that the organisation offers.

“Chartered Membership of CILT is seen as a key professional goal in a professional’s career, highlighting everything that their professional capability has to offer the industry. CILT needs to reassert its right, across the globe, to be clearly seen as ‘the leading professional organisation’. We then all need to act to deliver this.”

Paul joined BiS Henderson in January 2014, from Unipart Logistics who he was with for 14 years. He has responsibility for establishing and building the BiS Henderson Academy into a leading provider for attracting and developing talent in the UK logistics and supply chain sector.

Paul previously worked as divisional MD for Unipart’s e-fulfilment business. Later as Sales Director, he held responsibility for logistics solutions across all sectors and a range of clients of the £1.0Bn Unipart Group.

With extensive experience in the third party logistics sector and at director level positions within Business Services, IT and Automotive industries, Paul has developed solutions with clients in the retail, technology, automotive and aerospace sectors across Europe, North America and Asia.

In his role as President of CILT, Paul will be focused on ensuring that each country is seen as fully supporting its members with a range of services. He said: “The desire to have greater education at all levels of our supply chain, logistics, transport and transport planning communities is at the heart of our drive for excellence in all that we do.

“CILT has a growing range of partnerships in countries that do not have formal membership presence. We need to increase our visible presence in every country or market that members deem important to their global success”

Paul is excited about leading the Institute through its next phase of development as well as continuing the two year agenda that Dorothy set out.

“I am so proud to be taking on the role of President in 2015 and know that the friendships I have built across all territories and branches will stand me in good stead when we need to work together to drive our challenging growth agenda.

“There are so many committed and experienced people giving so much to our global Institute I intend to help them achieve as much as we are able to and create foundations for an even more enduring and exciting future.”
