News on Education and Professional Development

14 May 2014/Categories: CILT International News

Our ‘big news’ story for this edition is the introduction of the new online system for registering students who are studying our CILT qualifications around the world. This new system has been under development for the last 6 months and is going live this month.

This allows training providers, Branches and Territorial Organisations to enter up details of students, allowing us to easily group them by level and award, and to issue invoices effectively and accurately. It also allows us to track individual students and for the first time we will be able to hold data on individual module results so exam transcripts can be provided along with the main qualification certificate. And training providers will be able to go on line and see the detail of their students, invoices and update other key information including contacts details etc. CILT Ireland will be providing the education administration support required for student registrations and certification, but with overall management control resting with the International Professional Development Coordinator

We are also improving the accreditation process and part of the new software caters for this. Training providers will receive an ‘early warning’ when their accreditation is due to expire, and be able to get their renewals in motion. It also makes the whole process easier for new providers too – so we can see growth in the number of providers offering our qualifications.

These services are primarily focused on CILT Branch locations where help and support is needed to resource education activity. But this doesn’t stop new or established Territories taking advantage of this service – so please contact the IPDC if you feel this will help you.

The big message to all providers is that the registration and payments must now be made ‘up front’ at the beginning of the enrolment process, so there is no delay or dispute when the certificates are requested. We have produced a trainin manual to help providers which is being sent out during the first week of April, and which you can also download from the CILT International website.

Other key things that are happening in the world of education are:

  • Continued development of the revised Diploma in Logistics and Transport, due to be launched at Convention

  • Setting up of a network of local accreditation consultants to make the accreditation of new providers easier, cheaper and more effective and responsive to the needs of our customers. If you are interested in being considered to be an accreditation consultant please contact Jon Harris, the IPDC.

  • Development of the Key Knowledge area

  • A focused push on new providers and new students – we need at least 1500 registered students a year!

  • A continued focus on e-learning and CPD, which will be a key issue for discussion at the 2014 International Convention

  • Building relationships – with more accreditation visits planned during 2014

If you have any queries at all regarding education or professional development, please contact Jon Harris, the International Professional Development Coordinator at jon.harris@ciltinternational.org or +44 (0) 7881 805 952.
