Supply Chain Management Event

14 May 2014/Categories: CILT International News

The Republic Polytechnic in Singapore organised a one-day Supply Chain Management Event for its Year 1 and 2 Diploma in Supply Chain Management students on 5 March 2014. The aim of the event was to expose the students to the opportunities and issues facing the industry, and to give them a better understanding of how the industry works.

As an industry partner of the Republic Polytechnic, CILT Singapore was involved in organising some of the events.

The Director (Education) of CILT Singapore, Associate Professor Thai Van Vinh of Nanyang Technological University, addressed the students at the Supply Chain Management Event. He gave his insights on the evolving landscape of the supply chain industry in Singapore and CILT Singapore’s quality training programmes to groom future leaders for the industry. Associate Professor /Prof Vinh also highlighted the many opportunities that the industry offers and encouraged students to take up a challenging and rewarding career in the sector.

CILT Singapore also organised a site visit to the modern facilities of Keppel Logistics, located in the western logistics hub of Singapore. Students were given an overview of the infrastructure and led on an hour-long tour that covers warehousing, storage systems and minus 28-degree Celsius cold rooms.

The students who participated in the event found it informative and eye-opening. They gained first-hand knowledge of the industry and relished the opportunity to interact with industry practitioners and experts.
